Stuck in the foam pit

Yesterday it rained but we still went to playgroup. Olivia was not in the best mood, she has been hitting again and it's really frustrating. One little girl was trying to share her ball and Liv started pushing her away. I don't know why, maybe it was just her bad mood. Sometimes she loves playing with kids but yesterday wasn't one of those days. I took her aside and told her that she had to stop hitting and then I said to her "If you hit someone again, we're going to leave. Do you want to leave?" and she looked at me and said "Yeah!", happy as ever. I almost started to laugh but I didn't let her see that, she even ran over and got her coat and backpack. I thought she was going to get upset and start behaving but I guess she really didn't care if we stayed or not. Today was another rainy day so I took Olivia to this place down the street called Sky Zone. It's basically a bunch of trampolines and a foam pit. On Friday and Sunday mornings they have toddler time for kids five and under. I was glad because I would be nervous that she would get knocked over by older kids. Although, some of the four and five year olds were a bit rough. There was one boy following her around and every ball she picked up, he would take it from her. She would scream so loud at him and then he would run away but a few minutes later, he would be back. It was a little annoying because some of the moms weren't even paying attention to what their kids were doing. I don't follow Olivia around constantly but I always watch her from a safe distance. One boy was yelling "mommy" for a good five minutes before his mom finally looked over at him. Anyway, Liv liked the trampolines even though she can't exactly jump. She tries her best, she bends her knees and bounces but her feet never come off the floor. The staff was pretty nice, a few of them played with Liv. They would build up a tower of foam blocks and let her knock them down. The foam pit was pretty cool, I think that was her favorite part. She was crawling all around it, at one point she started sinking and I could barely see her. I had to jump in and get her because she was stuck. I had a hard time crawling through there, obviously I'm not in the best shape. When we got out, I realized that she lost a sock. They make you pay for Sky Zone socks ($2) but luckily they let us have a replacement for free. We saw a few kids from playgroup there but Olivia didn't really care and neither did they, they were all off in their own little worlds. All in all, it was a fun time and I will definitely bring Livy again soon. She had an awesome nap when we got home so that makes me love it even more. When Paul got home from work, we all went out for dinner. Liv ate before we left but she had fun coloring (on the coasters, oops). She stole some of Paul's broccoli, she doesn't take after me because I hate most vegetables. It's great that she likes them though! It was quite and eventful day, I am off the relax now.

Distracting a toddler

We've been going to the playground a lot lately and loving it. We saw the same little boy there that we saw at the library (library adventure), he didn't remember Olivia but he kept saying how cute she was. He's a funny kid, Liv saw a dog and started running towards it and he said "don't go over there, dogs eat babies!". Then he was chasing Liv around and she was having a blast. Yesterday we just hung out at home in the morning and after Olivia's nap, I decided it was time to get out of the house. I needed to pick up a few things so we went to Target (my favorite place). I could walk around that store for hours, I got what we needed and a few things we didn't need. I let Liv hold a little cat plush and she hugged it the whole time. I was going to buy it for her but when I scanned it, it was $10! I can't believe it was that much and it was just a small stuffed animal, I figured it would be closer to $5. She got a little upset when I took it away but I gave her a box of goldfish to hold onto and distract her (works every time). When we got home we played outside for a while, I brought out Liv's car and ride on toy and she had fun. Today was a very gloomy and rainy day so we didn't leave the house. Luckily I got to nap when Olivia did, it wasn't for long but it was much needed. It's supposed to rain the rest of the week so that's kind of a bummer. It's hard to keep Olivia entertained when we are stuck inside, she gets bored and I hate when she watches too much TV. Anyway, off to relax and catch up on a few shows.

Hurry up spring!

Am I the only mom that forgets she's doing laundry? The other day it took me almost six hours to do one load. I forgot to switch the clothes from the washer to the dryer for almost two hours so I had to run it through the wash again. After that, I forgot again! I guess I need to start setting a timer on my phone or something. Okay, that was just a quick little rant about my forgetfulness. Anyway, it was such a sunny and warm (well.. warmer) day on Wednesday so I decided we should go to the playground. I was really excited but when we got there, the entrance was blocked off by a huge snow pile. I was pretty bummed, especially since it's the only playground close by. I ended up taking Olivia for a walk, it was great being outside. We are both ready for the spring, warm weather just makes me happy. I am not a big fan of the winter and I'm pretty sure Liv isn't fond of being cooped up in the house either. Yesterday was pretty nice out too, just a little bit colder than Wednesday. Olivia is really missing playgroup (it starts again in two weeks) so I took her to the library and she had fun there. We didn't go until after her nap, it was around 4 o'clock so there were a lot of bigger kids running around. Liv kept yelling in excitement and one of the boys kept covering his ears, she thought it was funny. She loves being around other kids, it's really cute to watch. She has such a silly and fun personality, I love it.

Mother's Day giveaway

The other day someone posted a video and at the end I saw this book. I heard that it was hilarious so I had to get it. While I was at the bookstore skimming the pages, it was so funny that I decided to get two and do a giveaway! This is for all the moms who get thrown up on, have boogers wiped on them, get food flung at them, change a diaper only to smell poop five minutes later, have to deal with a screaming baby and terrible headache at the same time, make it through the day on two hours of sleep and lock themselves in the bathroom so they can eat for five minutes in peace! No matter how exhausted you are or how terrible you think you look, you are awesome and a great mother so don't forget that. Special thanks to my mom, I finally fully understand everything you had to deal with, you're amazing and I love you. I hope all of you have the best Mother's Day tomorrow!

I'm going to end the giveaway on Monday (5/12 at midnight) and send out the book sometime during the week, sorry it's going to be a little after Mother's Day but it was a last minute idea. Good luck!

Busy weekend

Sorry for slacking with the posts, this is the first time all weekend I'm sitting down to relax. Okay, maybe a bit of an exaggeration but it was a pretty busy weekend. Yesterday we went to my friends daughters first birthday party, we had a really good time. It's cute to see Liv "play" with kids around the same age as her. They have an outdoor cat and when Olivia saw the cat, she started screaming in excitement. The cat ran away of course (smart move) and then she kept trying to chase her, she's nuts. After the party, we went store hopping looking for a red shirt, I wanted one for today (red for heart disease). When we finally got home I had to give Livy a quick bath, feed her dinner and get her to bed. She fell asleep quick, we were out pretty much all day.

WE LOVE YOU OLIVIA!

Today was the March of Dimes 3K walk (although we took the long route so I think it was more than a 3K for us), Olivia was still sleeping when it was time to leave this morning so I had to wake her up. She was cranky when we first got there but once I started pushing her in the stroller she was fine. The walk was fun, Team Livy was taken so we were Team Livy - Heart Warrior. There wasn't many of us because I kind of gave short notice, other people wanted to come but had previous plans and I also forgot to mention it to everyone. I think next year I'm going to have shirts made for Team Livy, that will be cute. I am glad we were able to recruit a few people though! We earned over $500 for the babies. Thank you to everyone who donated and a special thanks to everyone who walked with us! It's great to have such awesome support from our family and friends. We actually made it on the news for a split second, that was pretty cool to see. Olivia was exhausted by the time we left, even though she just sat in the stroller and ate the whole time. I'm glad that she slept on the car ride home but then she was cranky for a few hours so she took another nap. I got a little sunburn and now I'm beat, tomorrow is going to be a nice relaxing day (I hope). Fingers crossed that Olivia sleeps in so I can too!

I have a love/hate relationship with Girl Scout cookies

A little update on the sleep situation, I'm happy to say that Olivia is in her own room now (sigh of relief). It actually went much better than expected. With the exception of that first terrible night, she's been falling asleep within five to ten minutes. There is no way I could have handled another night like the first one, I've never been so exhausted. A few months ago I got into a horrible habit of staying awake until 5am every night (not on purpose). I would have to nap when Olivia did in the afternoon, I was finally able to break that habit and now it's happening again! I know I need to cut out the naps but it's so hard to do when I can barely function. Even though she's been sleeping well, she's been eating horribly, barely anything. I even took her to the doctor but he said it was most likely her teeth, molars suck.. my words, not the doctors. I'm sure it must be really painful to have teeth ripping your gums apart but I hope she doesn't lose too much weight, she's already so skinny.. she's gonna start to look like Gollum. We had a pretty good weekend, we went out to eat on Friday night, it's like an adventure brining a baby out to dinner. I never know what's gonna happen and it's a little scary. She did pretty good most of the time and when she starting getting antsy, we let her watch Bubble Guppies and Dora on Paul's phone, never fails. What did parents do before smart phones?! Get dirty looks because their kid was screaming at the top of their lungs I guess. The older Liv gets, the more mischievous she becomes, if you're thinking about having a child ask yourself a few questions 1.) Do I love sleeping? 2.) Do I need privacy? 3.) Do I like how fast I can leave my house? 4.) Do I like having money? 5). Am I fond of the quiet? 6.) Do I dislike sharing my food with people who decide to just spit it out anyway? 7.) Do I hate being thrown up on? If you answered no to most of those questions, you are ready for a child! Congratulations! Don't ask me to babysit. Mostly kidding, but as much as I love Olivia, it's a huge adjustment from what life used to be. With that being said, I think it's totally worth it. Not kidding. Just one hug or smile from her and it melts my heart.

Here's a little preview of the mischief Olivia has been getting into lately. If I had a pull string doll of myself, it would say "no!" over and over again.

Let's see.. what else.. Oh yeah, I went to the St. Patrick's day parade with my friend on Sunday, better known as bar hopping. It was okay but I'm definitely starting to feel too old for that type of stuff, lots of people throwing up and fighting. I also hate the fact that it took forever to get inside the bar and when we finally got in, we couldn't even move cause it was so packed. The amount of time it took to get drinks killed my buzz. It was kind of a waste but there were some entertaining moments. After being out for about an hour, I really started to miss Olivia. I'm with her pretty much 24/7, I'm gonna have real problems when she goes to school. Today went by pretty quick, probably because we were out and about. I'm really looking forward to warm weather so we can get out of the house more often! Pretty bummed that her playgroup is over until the summer, she loved it. Some of the moms said they would still meet up once a week so I might do that. Oh yeah, totally off topic but I had this brilliant stupid idea of starting a diet, apparently this just can't be done during Girl Scout Cookie season. I fell off the wagon hardcore. I'm honestly ashamed of how many boxes I've eaten in the past few weeks. I've been doing great with exercising but I'm pretty sure it's all been a waste of time. Oh well, the boxes are empty now and I definitely won't be buying anymore till next year, I obviously have no self control. A few days ago I was looking for hand weights online, I was gonna buy the 5lb set but they were kind of expensive so I waited. Good thing I did because I really underestimated how freaking heavy they were, I'm probably gonna get laughed at for this but seriously.. even the 3lb set felt pretty heavy to me but I got those, hopefully I'll get used to them. Well anyway.. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Just so you know, the bow in her hair looked perfect at first. She kept messing it up and I finally gave up and just took the picture anyway.. sigh.
